Hi, I know this might not be the best place to ask this, but well I'm really having a hard time trying to find one of these graphic cards Asus Ares. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these I really don't care much for the price, but I really don't want to wait for a back order any help would be appreciated.

Thanks I completely forgot about newegg, so okay well, why do you think the Ares is a waste a money? now I heard SLI config 480x is better but ofcourse that is SLI and in my opinion not apples to apples, but if anyone knows a better alternative to the ares that would be good to, now what am looking for when I say better is a fast, well not just fast but fastest single graphics card. I seen the Sapphire Toxic and wasn't very impressed.

To be honest, the Asus Ares can't be assessed in a rational way as its not been made for rational people, anybody with any sense would buy a stock HD 5970, which retails for nearly ~$600 less.

You'll be getting roughly the same performance.

EDIT: Even going with the 4GB version, would be a much wiser decision:

It does look pretty cool though. Can I buy just that heatsink?

Also, I see no reason to spend $1200 on a graphics card that appears to have similar performance to the 5970.
Note: I have never even heard of the Ares before.

not fast enough
Well, yea that makes sense in a a nonsensical why, I mean it's true that the Ares is not meant for just someone whose looking for performance, but i really am not buying it simply for it's performance value, but merely it's shock value, as me and my friend have a competition going on, always trying to one up each other on our system, and I know he wont be getting this anytime soon as he hates ATI and is going for a GTx 480 SLI, but i'll be going for a ATI crossfire of the ARes and Matrix platinum. Think ill take him on the benchmarks.

oh yea won't be buying any games any time soon though ill be broke lol

Well, If your buddy has 2x GTX 480 SLI'd, you won't be beating him with that ASUS ARES.

The only way you'll be able to beat a GTX 480 SLI setup would be:

1) Overclocking the hell out of 2x HD 5870.

2) Buying 2 vanilla HD 5970 (~$1200 total lol)

3) Going with a GTX 480 SLI setup and overclocking it lol.

No it won't just be the Ares it the matrix as well, but i feel confident that ill be able to over clock him. Just trying to see if the ROG line is worth the name or just a loud of bs.
