Assuming your motherboard has more than just two SATA connectors, how about trying removing the 500GB drive cable from "Port 0" and reconnecting it to say SATA Port 3" (or just some other available SATA connector on the motherboard)?

It might be the SATA port 0 connector on the motherboard that is flaky.

Note that by moving the drive to another SATA connector, you might get some rumblings from Win7 at first boot after that, talking about "new hardware detected" and requesting a re-boot after the drivers get installed. Really, not much is going on here but if it does you should reboot. Everything should be back to normal after that second reboot.

Anyway, hopefully this use of another SATA connector might solve your problem.

You might also try removing the SATA cable from the drive, and then re-seating it again. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Hopefully, your 500GB drive hasn't actually died.
Thanks for such a detailed reply. I tried almost all motherboard SATA ports but no luck....

I think my HDD is dead. Tomorrow gonna buy new one. This time 5,400RPM even for Windows partition.
