Microsoft Exchange / Outlook 2007 via VPN

Hello,

I am having a problem Opening Microsoft Outlook 2007. I have two computers side by side. One is running Vista Ultimate the other is Windows 7 Beta 32-bit.

I connect to my LAN via SonicWall Global VPN Client.

I am trying to configure my Outlook 2007 Exchange account on the Windows 7 machine. I also deleted the Exchange account on the Vista machine to test.

I followed the exact same procedure to setup my account on both the Vista machine and the 7 machine. On Vista, the setup works perfectly and begins downloading my emails. However, on the Windows 7 machine, I am continually stuck at this screen:



I enter my User Name and password, but it just takes me back to this screen repeatedly. On Vista, it takes me on in to my mail.

Any advice?

Turns out this was not a Windows or Outlook related error. I did not know that one of my guys switched my router out with one that does not support IPSec. I just bashed him on the head and got them both working properly.

Windows 7 Using IPSec and default protocol is UDP.

Outlook 2007 in Windows 7 unable to access Microsoft Exchange Server.
1. After setup Microsoft Outlook 2007 with MS Exchange, You need to login via popup screen and finish.
2. When you try to run Microsoft Outlook 2007 with popup login screen and application will quit by itself or unable to connect to server. The system unable to login to Ms Exchange due to wrong protocol (UDP) used. Windows 7 using IPSec as a firewall security.
3. Using wrong protocol (UDP – Default).
4. Have to change it from UDP to TCP.
5. Start – Control Panel – Administrative Tools
6. Windows Firewall With Advanced Setting
7. Inbound Rules – Microsoft Office Outlook
8. Click “Protocol and Ports” tab
9. Change protocol type from “UDP” to “TCP” then click ok button to quit.
10. Try to run Outlook 2007 and login to the system.

Sorry ! I forgot to add another path of this. The above statement is correct. You need to change the protocol type from UDP (Normally for Unix system, if you managed to setup MS Outlook 2007 under Windows 7 and change back protocol to UDP, Once you click "send/receive" button. you will received a lot of error message about communication unable to establish message. I did try it just now !) to TCP and remove encryption function from Microsoft outlook system. Then, following the step below.
1. Start – Control Panel – Click “Mail (32bit) icon – Click “E-Mail Account …” Button
2. Double click Account Name. e.g. : Microsoft Outlook Exchange

3. Click “More Setting” Button and click “Security” tab

4. Un-tick “Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange” then click “OK” to save the changes and exit

5. Start – Run and Enter “Outlook.exe –firstrun” to reconfigure your account.
6. Try to run Outlook 2007 application as per normal step and login to the system.
