Generally the manufacturer will do the repair or replacement during the initial warranty period; to my knowledge, the policy is irrespctive of the point of purchase. Of course, I could be wrong.

Alternatively, if the store were a local Best Buy the product could be exchanged within the first (some number of days) for a new product. In any event, the following is contact information for HP in South Africa;
