Problem With the Jump List - Fails to Work!

Hello all!

My jump list for Office Word 2007 just suddenly stopped working while I was typing up an essay - It's been weeks since I've installed anything or tweaked settings. All of a sudden, when I could previously pull up recent documents and pinned documents by clicking on the arrow or dragging from my taskbar, I can't anymore.

Here's an example of nothing showing up for Word. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Edit to clarify the "Recent Documents vs. Jump List"
I mean recent documents - the "jump list" in the taskbar for word 07 has the task of showing you your recent documents as well as pinned documents - but neither work now

Here is what I mean

Is what I would like to get it to look like.

There is a known bug where when you get more than X items in start menu it goes blank. there is a thread here with the cure. It looks something like this. If you search that thread also has the fix. I believe the fix involves moving the start items to somewhere else and then back. heck the thread to be sure

Hope this helps

Ken

Point of order...

That is not a jump list. That is recent documents in the Start Menu.

Are these one and the same, part and parcel?

Sorry I just cleared my list of start menu items - but I'm not sure if we're on the same page.

I'm not getting a list of "recent documents+pinned documents" for my jump list for Windows 07 as I usually did.

Is that what your bug assumes?

Thanks!

Hi guys I'm terribly sorry about the confusion I'm causing with the Recent Documents vs. Jump List ---

If you look at my first post again I edited and clarified myself:

Hey sorry for the double post

For those who don't understand my question - I updated the top post again

I would like for my Word 07 jump list and/or recent documents list to look like this example

I think I have the same problem.

I have the Word (2007) icon pinned to the taskbar in Windows 7, and previously when I right clicked it, I could see the list of recently used docs, and I had a few docs permanently pinned to the list. Worked great! However, recently the MRU list and the pinned items disappeared from the Word icon list. Now, when I right click the Word icon on the taskbar, I only see the following items listed:

Microsoft Office Word 2007
Unpin this program from taskbar
Close window.

There's nothing else listed! This problem only seems to affect Word. Other programs (such as other Office apps like Excel) are not affected.

I ran an Office repair but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The same problem

I have exactly the same problem that DarrylGittins has, only with Office 2010 and jump list doesn't work in Excel either (still the same way).

Deleting the one file that was over 1MB from %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
nor deleting all of the files nor repair install of Office 2010 didn't help either.

Any other suggestions?

Same as above

I have the same issue. None of the repairs above worked.

My problem exists in all of the office programs, though each is different.
Example: Excel will show 4 pinned items & no more, while Word will only show 2 & no more.

It has been quite some time since the last post & yet no fix for this issue. I fear that this might go on for some time longer. =(

In technicomp's reference the custom part is not deleted. Have you cleared all items using this tutorial ? Or, try using this program Jumplist-Backup-Restore if you just want to delete the Word and Excel jump lists.

heltes;

Not sure if you were talking to me or not, but since there has been no action on this thread for months now, i will make that assumption. =)

Yes i have cleared out all of the saved info, i have cleared out just the excel info, & still the same problem. When i clear out the saved info, it then only lets me pin one item & no more.

Obviously it is a problem with microsoft, & i am not going to install a 3rd party program just to be able to use the function, or i should say a similar function because the programs i have seen are not really jumplists. I am not that worried about the function, it is just odd that it broke in this manner.

Hi! bryan666, and heltes, welcome to 7F :)

Go to:
>Rt. click on Taskbar >click on properties at the bottom.
>Check off both boxes in the Privacy area.
>Then go up and click on customize.
>Make your customization picks in the scroll down area.
>Then at the bottom you can set how many programs and files to display.

There are visuals here:The Complete Guide to the Windows 7 Start Menu | Windows 7 Tutorials

Still have problems?
You can try clearing the settings then OK apply OK go back in and reset the way you like then do the OK apply OK again.

Or do the default to reset, and OK apply OK to get out.

Anak;

ThanXX again, but i have done that all as well & still nothing.

I might just try a straight uninstall & re-install of the office suite & see if that fixes it.

I have openoffice, but never had a jump list problem.

I have noticed that every time I upgrade, it clears from the start menu then comes back and rebuilds its Jlist, so that might work!
