Late startup sound

Startup sound will only play after I hit show desktop button

update your sound drivers. Sounds always delayed on my system via HDMI untill i install the realtek ati hdmi drivers, then all is well (w/ all the cards iv had in this system, includes 5850)

What version number, and what sound card (onboard)?
Even more valuable, please post a link to your motherboard...or system website. I dont even see a GA-VM600M on google...:shock:

Check that your Windows Audio service is set to start up automatically and not set to delayed.

I've seen this problem a few times before caused by a delayed start up of the W/A service.

If it's set to Automatic then yes you are correct. This obviously isn't what's causing your problem.

Solution

I've been struggling with the same error.

It is caused by choosing your Desktop Background from 'Solid Colors'. Under Personalization>Desktop Background
Choose your background from another category in 'Picture location' drop-down menu.

I've reported the bug to MS, this never occured in beta or RC.

Or if u insist on your solid background turn off Play Windows Startup sound in Control Panel>Sound and wait till MS releases the fix.

I discovered another solution. just use snipping tools to capture big black wallpaper of solid color (without icons) and save it (example black.jpg) and use it as background instead of selecting black in solid color
