Got sick of Vista's clumsy performance, I decided to try out the first Windows 7 Beta...Wow, smooth performance. After the expiration date, I installed the RC version and lo and behold, Mr. Problem appeared.

I thought this issue should be resolved by Oct 22nd, 2009 (Yes, I purchased a REAL version). Boy, I was wrong! Same problem again.

Here's what's currently happening...right after I installed the GeForce Go 6150 graphic driver from Windows 7 Update, ON THE RESTART, the Welcome screen took a while to load up, then screen go blank for a while, then Taskbar, icons, etc appear. ON THE SHUTDOWN, similar result. FINALLY, I even get blank screen for UAC!!! WTF!!! (each of those blank screens takes at least 5-10 secs)

What I do know is that after uninstalling the nVidia driver, the problem disappeared but left me with no driver...GRRR

I went to nVidia, NADA...same with HP website. I googled my arse off, nothing similar popped out. :sarc:

Any of you out there got a similar problem, be kind and give some comments, please.

From the heart of desperated man,

Thank you,

Cason

Tell me the hardware id of your graphics card and I will have a suggestion. I've gotten NVidia cards to work many times for people, including mobile ones, but I don't own any portable computers so it's outside of my comfort zone.

That said, there's a good chance something will work.

If you don't know how to find the id, follow my first post here:

And also, are we dealing with 32 or 64 bit here? 32 correct?

Vista had the same prob

On Vista 32 bit, I updated to Microsoft's Nvidia driver and started having that black screen for a while b4 and after an UAC event. So after much googling and reading posts, i found someone who got an older driver to work. And it worked for me too.

Sadly, this problem has carried over.. Its HP and Nvidia's fault, b/c HP doesn't allow nvidia to make drivers directly to these in-laptop graphics cards.

But as for now, i found a simple solution that doesnt involve drivers, aero, or disabling UAC.

"right-click your Windows desktop and hit up the NVidia control panel, choose the advance setting and under the Display tab hit up "Change flat panel scaling" and turn that setting off."

Works in Win7 too! And it doesnt seem like it uses scaling

Just so you know, I've specifically registered with this forum to say thanks for posting this solution - I've had the very problem with my HP laptop for over a year now, and have just found this simple fix!

Thanks again!

Thank you. I was sick of the long black screen on UAC popup and i didn't want to disable UAC. This really helped. My computer is a lot faster because i don't have to wait for the UAC screen to load. by the way i registered with this forum just to say thank you.
