Indexing service causing freeze ups

Windows Indexing Service has been wreaking havoc on my system. Everytime a program, such as Directory Opus, accessed the indexing service my system would freeze. I had to reboot to get it unstuck again. Directory Opus wasn't the only program...working in Digital Juice or Photo Paint would cause the same system lock up. After deactivating the indexing service the system stopped freezing. I remember I had the same problem with Vista Ultimate x64 as well.

Video Card...nVidia 8800GT

In your indexing options, what directories is the indexer set to index? By default it should just be start menu and your libraries

I don't know. After I deactivated the service it dosen't show what was indexed. I performed a stress test...started several hungry programs and the media player simultaniously with zero freeze ups. Like I mentioned, I also had this problem when I first bought and installed Vista...after finding and implementing the solution from the net the problem went away.
