What Does Changing dB do in Bass Boost?

DBspl determines what the ear can hear. I found this explanation. I'm not sure if it is the answer your looking for http://audio-electronics.wikidot.com/db From further goggling I understand it to be how much pressure is directed outward and they say +14db is safe. Their are a lot of articles on db and bass all seem to be very technical,When you increase the volume it changes the frequency of bass wave output. Or pressure. Another article I read, but to tell you the truth It's a bit beyond my knowledge. Fabe http://www.soundstage.com/maxdb/maxdb021999.htm

Sort of. Volume and frequency are independent.

Volume is amplitude. Think of a sine wave here with peaks and valleys. As the tops and bottoms get higher and lower, the volume increases. Or vice-versa. Increasing volume will cause the mountains to be higher and valleys to be lower.

Frequency, like when a man is talking it's low and a woman high, is represented by how close those mountains and valleys are from each other. So if they go up and down many times (looking at it left to right), then the frequency is higher. A really deep male singer will have those peaks and valleys much more spread apart.

Using a digital oscilloscope which easily measures wave patterns, electronics and computers can be diagnosed for proper operation.

Increasing dB only increases perceived volume levels.

Now as far as improving sound "quality." That's user perception and also how the driver is programmed to behave. There is no direct relation between quality and volume levels besides finding the sweet spot for any given speakers attached.
