Posting to try get an answer on behalf of a friend. Any suggestions welcome. He has this laptop, trying Windows 7 build 7100 on it. Can't get two drivers to work - the CARD READER and the WEBCAM.

Texas Instruments™ PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller

If anyone knows of a way to get these to work, or some other workaround,
please let me know.

Many thanks. He got the drivers from there and they worked. Funny enough, now there's some unknown device in the list. No idea what that could be though. I'll probably look at his PC another few weeks from now. If a solution comes up, I'll post it. Thanks again RAJINISBACK09.

Hi khat17,
Good to hear. Maybe right click on the "unknown device" and select "update driver" and point to the the folder that has the driver you downloaded to see if it has what it needs there. Maybe point it to C:\Windows\system32 as well.

Hello Khat17!

I've just now, come across this forum and your post. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR790U/B which shipped with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit. Last night, I was able to successfully install Windows 7 Professional 64bit as a clean install. Everything was quick and smooth, only now I have a few devices that are not working; SD Card, Bluetooth, Eject hard button and I can't seem to install any Nvidia drivers I come across and so my display looks very awful. any help to point me in the right direction?

Hello all,

Iam havin a serious issue with my Sony Vaio Ar series 790 model.

My battery was dead and i bought a battery from India which came with a cd saying instal cd before inserting battery, it looked like a bios update cd while i was doing the instalation, after it was done it said it didnt instal properly would you like to re-instal or go ahead, before i could decided the computer re-started and now its a brick.

the computer doesnt come on at all, i called the guy whom i bought the battery from and he says that the bios got corrupted and he is looking for the bios files to update it and it should be fine, its been 2 weeks now and he cant seem to find the bios update files from anywhere i tried looking for it also but i couldnt find on sony website or other places.

anyone know where to find the bios files for sony vaio AR series 790 model please.

or does anyone know of anyone who has this same model so i can get the bios files from them.

Welcome to seven forums Ashma and hermitsethi. First off next time you should start your own thread just so you know you'll get quicker responces since one of you have the same model the other doesn't just makes it easier for members to help. @Ashma Sony eSupport - VGN-AR790U/B - Software Updates & Drivers This is a list of the drivers for your model Listed a Vista Ultimate don't know if they are 32 or 64 bit. You can try these in compatibility mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Cahnces are since it is a laptop they are 32 bit and may not work. Please post back, We will need to probably go at these one at a time. the display is a mobile Nvidia so we'll have to figure out what model #Thanks. Fabe

@hermitsethi. Unfortunately you have a more serious problem. If the system will not even boot( have you tried your old battery?) Their is no way to even try to diagnose the problem. You may need to contact Sony to get a replacement bios chip or send it in to have it replaced. Most likely goes now without saying it is better to spend the extra $ and buy an OEM battery or at least one from a reputable company as this is the risk you take. Personally I don't know what was on the CD but can't imagine it was a bios update, if anything some kind of battery power saving mode driver. Anyways your in a pickle. If it won't boot it's hard to figure out what is wrong. Sorry.JMO Thanks one expensive laptop You could try Sony support. Or possibly another member may have another suggestion. @hermitsethi Where did you purchase your laptop? It is important to us to have as much information as possible since not everyone is in the US Also the AR790 series is just that a series the only files I could track down were for latin America under VGN AR790FG Sony eSupport - VGN-AR790FG - Software Updates & Drivers So see we need to know the full model # in order to even begin to try and find the correct files. Please look on the back for the model # if posted. As I'm sure the model link I posted is just a shot in te dark. No bios files. Which once again is mute if the laptop won't even boot. Sorry for your troubles Fabe
