I would worry at about 125C., but try to keep it lower.
Much more than that you will have problems

You are probably having problems because your computer does not have sufficient specs for resource hungry programs, you mentioned some of the problem programs, yourself. Until you can get another laptop, stay way from those demanding, resource hungry programs.
