Reset windows position

So a friend of mine runs a 3 monitor setup (lucky SOB), but one of his monitors died on him last night (can't remember if it's the 2nd or 3rd one). Anyways, he had a window that he last opened on the now deceased monitor lol. How can he reset the windows position to Windows 7 default?

Select the program window he wants to rescue on the taskbar then tell him to hit Alt+Space then M. Now he can use the arrow keys to move the window back onto the visible displays.

Hello Cheeriokilla,

In addition, right click on the open (unminimized) window's taskbar thumbnail preview and click on Move. You can now press a arrow key, then either drag the window over with the mouse or continue using the arrow keys to manually drag the window back to an active display. When it's back, left click or press enter to drop it.

You can also use Win+Left Arrow or Win+Right Arrow a few times to Aero Snap the window back to a visible monitor. Also Win+Shift+Left/Right Arrow will make a window jump monitors directly.

Hey guys, sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm wondering if there is a deeper solution to this issue. I'd like to reset the position of ALL windows. Windows must store the data for size/position of opened windows somewhere, and I want to delete that data and reset it to default.

Thank you so much for the tip, Alt + Space + M. It worked perfectly. When I saw the multi-directional icon, I used the arrow keys to bring that window I could not see into my main screen. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Lenovo w530 laptop.
