I thought I would share some custom Windows Live Movie Maker profiles with the community. These custom profiles will allow you to publish/save movies is the following resolutions:
Notes:VBR is for video quality, 85 is lower quality and smaller file size while 95 is higher quality and larger file size.
Instructions: Unzip the files into your Windows Live Movie Maker profiles folder. By default it is located under: C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\Video Profiles
I'll update this post with new profiles as I create them. I will also take requests for custom resolutions as I am wantign to build a large library.
Any chance of making some profiles suitable for the Pal format. It would seem that microsoft has forgotten that most countries outside the USA use Pal 720 x 576 or 720 x 520 and different aspect ratios than the NTSC used in USA and Japan.
Any profiles or instructions on how to make a suitable profile using the Windows Media Encoder would be wonderful. I found the microsoft instructions on how to use the WME not complete enough for me.
Any help would be appreciated.
Microsoft included PAL in the earlier versions of Movie Maker, why not this one, I wonder???

DearDisk4mat,
I was so grateful for your Pal profiles. Now I have a need to output my video to PAL widescreen format. Would it be too much to ask if you could provide me with a profile for PAL 720 x 526 16:9 suitable for output to a DVD?
I don't understand why Microsoft have not done this to date.

Thank you for sharing this information. I understand now that the profiles allow me to save movies in a given format. Can I somehow use these formats for video acquisition from a PAL camera? If so, how do I tell WLXVideoAcquire Wizard?
I've put the PAL profile in the correct folder (or atleast in mine it was "Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\Video Profiles") but they do not show up under save options.
palzip,
I have just downloaded the PAL profile to try and replicate my old setup on a computer that died. Shame it did as I had got it working well for converting my old DV tapes to wmv and then onto DVD maker as well. As usual can't remember everything i did.... my suggestions for you are:
1) Are you definitely using an older version of movie maker? I am using a 2009 version and I'm not sure the approach is valid on a newer one
2) Restart Movie maker and try again. Needed to do this to get them to appear. It will be one of the last options with a wmv symbol
3) File extension issue? definitely *.prx and not txt with windows hiding file extensions?
4) You have to be admin to save in that location (guess you are as you have managed).
You posted 3 months ago, so probably sorted or gave up...? Good luck
