Yeah, IDE drives are almost guaranteed to be slower than a SATA one. 10 minutes to boot though is very long. Something is not right, on top of the slow IDE Windows drive "problem." Regardless, your system will boot faster after installing Windows to SATA drive.

If it installed and is up and running in any capacity though, I highly doubt the DVD is bad.

If you attempt to install again to SATA, try to get us the error message or code so we can figure things out possibly. You need 7 on that SATA imho.
