    SSD backing up

Using win 7 backup, i want to backup up my ssd(now its in full go). Where is the best place to back up? I have a 500gb hdd with my docs on(was my old C drive etc) is it best to back up here or to an ext hdd?
Also just in case of failure im thinking of backing up the hdd with my docs on. Any recommendations.
I have acronis true image but would rather using windows system image, because once ive done a clean install to the SSD i can restore using the system image.

    Many thanks

Kingscurate, Your post is a bit confusing.
What is the size of your C drive?
Why don't you want to use Acronis to create a system image?
The windows backup (full image) can be stored on an external USB hard disk and then restored to your
    C drive.

If your C drive is full then the image would end up being full also.

What you can do is to move files to your external hard disk and then clean up your C drive.

SSD's have not that much difference from regular hard disk except they are faster and more expensive.

Windows image backup will not restore to a hard disk smaller than the one that the image was created from.

Sorry for any confusion, always the case i knew what i meant lol.
My C drive is the ssd 128GB
My old sata hdd is 500GB and 2 external HDD(320gb &160GB).
So the hdd is now a slave drive(in olden days??) containing all docs, pics and music.
This could fill up depending on how many pics i take as i shoot raw files, so for that reason i am best backing up the c drive(ssd) to an ext hdd.
Ive found using acronis confusing, simply because i have never had to use it to restore where as i have used windows restore before, and to me it was a doddle.
When i used restore in the past i rebooted to factory restore and then restored the system image.

Hope that clears up the confusion

Kingscurate, Do I understand that your C SSD of 128gig is getting full?
Acronis is not that confusing if you use it mostly for imaging. You do have to set it to create a single full image on your external hard disk. Then create the bootable recovery disk from withing acronis and you should be safe.

Some mistake backup with image creation as backup in most cases is incremental and only backs up documents and data.
Acronis has several options that you have to study to make sure that you are creating a complete system image on your external drive.
