Scheduled Windows backup job has disappeared

I just discovered that the scheduled backup job I had made in Windows backup has gone missing from Scheduler. There is no sign of it, and it didn't execute tonight as it should have.

When I go to Backup, there is a link there "remove scheduled backup", so Backup thinks there still is one.

I had composed a nice scheduled event, with advance warnings so that I would make sure the external drive was turned on. Now it's gone. Is there a history of this happening?

I would start digging in the event viewer. That is odd though, I've never had a task disappear on me, I've had one I'm trying to remove refuse to go away, but never a disappearance.

    Thanks for your reply.

After a clean boot, I went back this morning and found that the task is still not listed in Scheduler. BTW, the View menu is set to show hidden tasks.

Over in Backup, the link to remove scheduling was still active. So I clicked it and the scheduled time was removed from the page. Then I clicked Change Settings, and the same time I had originally specced came back. But over in scheduler nothing still showed.

So I Changed the backup job's settings to execute this morning, 9am. Over in Scheduler no job was listed. But indeed, the job now has begun to execute.

I'm confused here. Last week I scheduled the backup job, then I went to scheduler, found it and added some Actions - warnings a few minutes in advance. Now, not only is that job gone, but backup scheduling does not appear on the scheduler's list at all.

Why wouldn't I be seeing a backup job in scheduler?

BTW, I see that this thread is move to Performance and Maintenance Tutorials. That's ok, but who's going to look for threads under a tutorial listing?

    Hello Paul,

You're thread was actually moved into the main Performance and Maintenance forum location. Performance and Maintenance Tutorials is a sub forum in Performance and Maintenance at the top instead. :)

Ok, thanks, Brink. I appreciate the clarification. I was confused already because I didn't even see the stub in the main forum where I had placed it. I easily get confused. :)

    Take care,
