Moving C: disk image from one type of drive to another

I currently have my C: partition for my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS on a SATA drive and will soon be installing a SAS drive to use for that partition instead. I do daily complete image backups of the system partition with Acronis True Image and I am hoping that I can simply reload the saved disk image onto the new disk without any problems. I have done it many times with SATA-to-SATA reinstalls but I am concerned there may be problems because of the hardware IDs (or something similar?) moving to a different kind of disk hardware device.

Can anyone tell me if this should work? I don't really like the prospect of having to do a complete re-install of the OS

    Thanks,

It should work without problems, provided that the SAS drive is bootable, and Windows (on the most recent image you have made) is equipped with the necessary bott driver for said device, if needed.

BEst to make a new image immediately prior to the switch, then when you have restored the image to the SAS drive, remove the sata drive, and attempt to boot from it...

SAS is really only a bus technology that is compatible with Sata. Therefore there should be no problem.
