backup issues - error code 0x80005D

Tried to back up to an external HD, always fails and gives the error code 0x8078005D. Tried a system image backup and the same error came up...

    any ideas?

We will need a lot more information before we can help you please fill out your PC specs what version of Windows you are using and what program are you using to make the back up with.

I think this is due to junction points or reparse point. Windows backup cannot manage this somehow. I had no clue how to deal with this and therefore went back with Nero Backitup.

If somebody has an idea how to identify and remove these junction points, so Windows backup can operate, I take the advice.

Don't mess with the junctions points. They are there to make Win 7 compatible with older programs. Windows backup does not have a problem with these on my machine. For more information, check this thread: Access to 'Documents & Settings' Denied

    Hi Steve,

Using Windows 7 (x64), my PC is an Advent PTG9003W7. Have an Iomega external hard drive.

Apols if this isn't enough - what other details do you need?
