Why Can't I Enable System Restore?

I have run into a problem that I cannot seem to solve myself. A while back I disabled System Restore (System Protection), and I cannot figure out how to turn it back on so I can create restore points. I go into System Properties and click System Protection, but I cannot click the Configure button to enable it. On the side it says "Configuration has been disabled by the administrator". I am confused as to why it says this and how to get rid of it.

    Thanks for the help!

    or

Thanks, I downloaded the .reg file and applied it, nothing happened. I restarted, still nothing. I still cannot click the configure button to turn on system restore. I cannot access the Local Group Policy because I have Win7 Home Premium and it is not included.

are you logging on as user or administrator? if administrator right is required to enable system restore, then try logging as admin first then try it again.

    Hello McDougal,

In addition, double check to make sure that you are tried both steps 1 and 7 in the tutorial below to see if that may help. You may also see if restarting the computer afterwards may help.

System Restore - Enable or Disable

    Hope his helps, :)
