    Windows Backup Stopped Working

I have been happily backing up to an 8-gig flash drive since I bought a new Dell Inspiron last December. Suddenly it has stopped working. I keep getting a panel about 25% into the backup that says "Windows Backup needs a CD/DVD or USB drive to continue." Apparently, it does not "see" the flash drive any more, and no matter what I do, it just keeps showing me that same panel, and I have to abort the download to get out of the cycle. I have tried completely clearing the flashdrive and starting anew, as well as trying different flashdrives and ports. But no joy. I called Dell and they said that Windows Backup is inherently unstable and then tried to sell me one of their premium backup products. Funny thing: my wife has a new Dell Inspiron that we purchased last February, and its doing the exact same thing. So I can't be the only person having this issue. Perhaps a Windows update has screwed things up? Any wisdom would be appreiated. Thanx to all!!

    Hi and welcome

I would not expect dell ( i have them too) to say anything but on this one I would be forced to agree. I had a similar problem untill I changed to another backup solution (not from dell). NO mine will back up to USB flawlessly.

Cant hurt to try an alternative (trial is free) to see if that fixes it.

    I use Acronis True Image.
