Dead laptop, HDD is ok...backup? Hey, long time since i been on here haha.
I was wondering what is a good software i can use to get the files from a hard drive to another computer? heres what i mean: theres this laptop that still works but a dead lcd screen. So my uncle wants the files from the hard drive from that laptop to his laptop. What is a great software for me to do that? I know norton ghost does it but i saw bad reviews of it. I have the tools, cables and adapters for the transfer but i just want to ask you guys what program that does it great
Thanks in advance guys. | My System Specs |

Connect a monitor up to it and then back the files up from it normally.

Give Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download a try. It makes a compressed image of the drive and then it has an option to mount the image to access the files. Then you can copy any files you want to keep. Be sure to unmount the image when done. I use it on a regular basis to image by partitions as a backup.

If monitor won't work, remove the HD and plug it into external HD - most external HD's are a laptop HD in case with IDE/SATA to USB connector. | My System Specs | | |

If you are trying to alone the drive to another computer, you'll need software. If you just want to get files off the drive, all you need are internal to external cables and you are ready to go. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

I just connected it externally with some adapters and all that then got the files off of that then formatted it. Used external shells with the hard drive and there it goes
