    Disabled a sound device, how to restore it


    I have several device outputs, one for my computer speakers and another for my television (which is out through an HDMI). I switch between the two depending on what I am watching stuff on. I right click on the little sound icon on the right side of the taskbar, and click Sounds. It has a list of sound devices, and when I right clicked on HDMI, I accidentally clicked Disable. Now its gone off the list and I dont know how to get it back. I tried to simply unplug the hdmi from the computer and back in to no avail. I would like to watch a movie from my computer on my TV but I cannot select the audio to it now, so how do I fix this??

    Right click somewhere in the sound devices box, and it should have an option to "Show Disabled Devices". If you check that box, it should show your HDMI output, which you can then enable.

Hello, I'm new here and I have a problem I hope you all can help me with. OK, my audio was working fine until I decided to update the IDT High Definition audio driver. Bad mistake... Once I supposedly updated the audio driver, now my audio is not working and it has a red X on the speaker icon....
i have a problem with my laptop. it says, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in" and when i clicked it says, "Audio Device is disabled". I tried checking on control panel but it says there that speakers and headphones are enabled. see attachments.

I have an creative x-fi installed which I have disabled. The on board realtek (mb is an asus ph67) shows audio input to speakers in control panel but no sound at jacks (front or rear). Does the presence of the Creative SC disable the onboard audio?
When I disable the network controller in Device Manager, the controller is disabled but nothing changes in Device Manager to identify the device as being disabled. When I used to do the same thing in Windows XP, the device icon turned yellow. Is there some setting to identify disabled devices...
