I HAVE JST INSTALLED WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 4-5 DAYS AGO, I INSTALLED ALL THE PROGRAMMES I WANT AND THEN I CHECK MY HARD DRIVE ( C ) IT WAS 33.2 GB
AFTER THAT I STARTED USING INTERNET DAILY AS USUAL AND TODAY I CHECK MY C DRIVE AND ITS GONE UP TO 48.4 GB WITHOUT INSTALLING ANY NEW PROGRAMMES AND I CHECK REGULARLY SINCE MORNING MY C DRIVE IS GOING UP BY 1 OR 2 MB EVERY TIME WHEN I CHECK IT
WHAT COULD BE THE REASON
I CHECK MY SYSTEM PROTECTION TO MAY BE TURN OFF MY C DRIVE TO SYOP THIS PROBLEM BUT I M UNABLE TO DO IT
ON SYSTEM PROTECTION IT SAYS

LOCAL DISK C SYSTEM ON
RECOVERY OFF

PLS HELP ME TO STOP THIS PROBLEM OF FILES OR WHATEVER TAKING SPACE EVERY DAY ON MY C DRIVE

You want System Protection to be on for your C drive. It will auto-configure the space apportioned for Restore Points which you might want to take a look at in its settings. I always try to add more space to hold more points for longer, but you may need to trim back.

It's possible the page file and restore points took up the extra space.

Install WinDirStat to see an exact picture of your disk usage: WinDirStat: Windows Directory Statistics | Download WinDirStat: Windows Directory Statistics software for free at SourceForge.net

You need to study what is on the drive to see what is adding itself, if it continues.

I would not turn off System Protection as it can save your OS from serious problems or if it becomes unbootable. I would protect the current System Restore points or even configure more space for them once you determine what is not needed on the C drive.

I believe it will hold the disk space you apportion. I keep mine at 20% but you may want it tighter due to the HD space restriction.

Run the following command in Command Prompt:

vssadmin list shadowstorage

It will give you 3 numbers:

USED - that's of no interest
ALLOCATED - that is the space currently assigned
MAXIMUM - that is the maximum space system protection will eventually use

If you want to reduce the MAXIMUM, post back and we'll tell you how to do that. You can reduce it to a minimum of 300MBs. But that is only recommended if you do Imaging instead.
