Emergency backup folder
Every so often in the last week I find an Emergency Backup folder (always empty) on the desktop. What would cause that? Thanks.

Installed any new software?
Make any changes?
Run a full antivirus scan
Dowload and run malwarebytes update and then make a full scan.
Im leaning toward some software recently installed or changed.
Thanks, richc46. Malwarebytes full scan was negative. I'll have to pay closer attention to when it appears and what I'm doing just before that. I don't think I've installed new software in a while.
Art, see if doing a clean boot helps resolve the problem
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
The tricky thing is that it doesn't happen all the time. A Google search on "Emergency Recovery folder" shows only items relating to Quark, which I do not have.
I dont forget these unqiue problems. I think about it and will post as the thoughts come.
We have many members, possibly one of them will help, too.

Like you I have a dell studio and there was an emergency backup folder on the desktop when I first bought it. I did some research on it, I think Dell Datasafe has an Emergency backup feature that creates this folder during the restore process. It irritated me sufficiently because it was quite large and had files with a .dsb extension which refused to open anyhow. So I just backed it to an external drive and deleted it from the hdd, after that it no longer appeared.
Hi, Bill2. My folder keeps reappearing. I did a search on "emergency," but I could find nothing that would lead me to this folder. When the folder appears, it's always empty.
Task manager doesn't seem to be showing anything unusual.
I must have updated a program and forgot to check, or uncheck, something. That's all I can think of.
Any suggestions?
