creating an system image disk using dvd's

When I try to use windows 7 to make a ISO out of disk instead of an hard drive since none are ntfs format I always get a message saying please insert disk and lable it "" so I did do that then it ask if I want to format the dvd I click yes and then get message saying insert disk greater then 1GB and lable it. What is going wrong? These dvd's are 4GB

You are trying to save a Win7 backup image to DVD, correct? Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

Do you have another HD or external you can save the image on, because this is a much more stable method than trying to use DVD's.

Are the DVD's you're using new or RW which need erasing - try deleting and formatting them first in Computer.

Is it a DVD writer? Have you written to a DVD+R using the device?
