Cannot backup anymore (insufficient storage...shadow copy data)
Hello. I am trying to be better at being organized/maintaining my system by externalizing my files: music files, pictures, backups, VMs, etc.
Recently I used one hard drive (~270 GB and labeled H:\) for my backups and iTunes library. I started with the iTunes library and got that perfect so that it now points to the only folder directory in H:\
Now I moved on to setting up the Windows backups. I set it up to back up only the 'Files in libraries and personal folders for all users'. SUCCESS! I see that it installs directly to the root of the H:\ and even has some hidden files.
I read some boards and realized that I had not checked 'Include a system image of drives: System Reserved, (C:\)'. I went back to manage my backups and made sure this was selected and attempted to back up. FAIL. "A shadow copy could not be created. Please check 'VSS' and 'SPP' application event logs for more information. Details: insufficient storage available to create either the shadow copy storage file or other shadow copy data."
I reverted back and unchecked the box. Tried to back up just the libraries and personal folders again. FAIL. Same error message. I then tried to delete the old backup and even the hidden files (leaving my iTunes directory still on H:\). Then attempted again. FAIL.
What have I done to not allow back ups to be done now? Clearly it can't be space issue. I have ~260 GB still left on the drive. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
