Where are located backup of registry?

Hello
In windows xp there is backup registry in c:\windows\repair

but in windows 7. I cannot find a backup registry. I looked for backyp of SAM, SECUTIRY, SOFTWARE, SYSTEM OR DEFAULT, but only place I have found them is in windows\system32\config.

Is there some other place of backup of these files that windows creates?

Hello miros84, welcome to Seven Forums!

I'm not sure there is one by default unless it was previously exported as a backup; perhaps a sfc scan/repair or a repair install may sort any issues you're having and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

I wanto to know, if my registry is wrong, and if I had a copy of windows\system32\config
Is that enought to backup windows registry or I must do it with some program of method described here in this forum.
I think windows\system32\config conteins all files of windows registry, but I am not sure.
What do you think?

Sorry for my ignorance.
Perhaps I should rephrase.
I see in the dir that SIW2 has pointed out, much to his credit, that there is a SYSTEM file. However, if you try to copy it and replace the one in the config dir, it says the file is in use and you cant and to close the file. Do you have to do it in safe mode or something?
Thanks for your help.

You have to do it in the recovery environment. Heres a tut (skip steps 6,7,8 and 9, those are for startup repair).
