Is it possible to use my Backup for a fresh install on a brand new hard drive?
Will it leave me with exactly the same setup as i have now?
Ta! very much

I see. I am changing the Hard drive. Can I remove my installed windows 7 key and reinstall a differnet key on a completely different computer? That's a hard question...
If it's full or Upgrade version retail, you can move it to any hardware of your choice as long as it is on only one machine at a time. If it's factory or builder's OEM it is locked to the mobo first installed upon.
You don't need to SysPrep the HD to simply reimage old HD to new one. Windows 7 backup imaging allows change of HD which is why they want the image stored externally.
