    Backup tasks

I have created several elevated program shortcuts for my desktop. How do I back them up? Do I need to backup the Task Scheduler Library and the desktop icons? In addition to a complete image of the hard disk, how else would I do that?

    Thanks.

Scheduled tasks are located in the folder C:\windows\tasks, each task has a file name in the format taskname.job. You can copy the tasks folder and save it somewhere. But if a password is needed to run the job, it gets complicated. Take a look here.

    Thanks, Bill2. Good to know.

I looked in C:\Windows\tasks and found only one .job file listed. There are 16 tasks listed in my task scheduler library, 43 active tasks listed, and 73 items listed in task status. And I have ticked "show hidden files, folders and drives" in folder options.

I also searched my entire windows folder and then C: drive for *.job items, and only that one listed came up. Why aren't all of my tasks showing up in the folder? Is it because they're unscheduled? Even so, where could they be?

    Thanks.

Duh! It appears things changed in Vista onwards so tasks are stored as .xml files, the .job file scheme was relevant with the task scheduler 1.0 that worked in xp. I need to do more research, will get back if I learn something useful.

This seems to be more complicated. I did a Google search on a variety of topics to find the location of the tasks, and I came up empty. Does anyone know? My original concern was to be able to back up my tasks in addition to imaging the drive.

I wonder if these files are buried in the registry...
