    system restore and windows live

how can a System Restore (just about a week back in time) make me loose Windows Live? It says Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file and I may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
What is all the with permissions?
How can the system restore have brought all this about?

    Windows Live what?, Messenger?, Mail?

When you run SR it restores your system to what was already installed just prior to that date & time. Anything which was installed after that will not be present, therefore you have to re-install any such applications.

    thanks
well I only have the computer a month or so (irrelevant I suppose) but I thought that Windows Live was on it when I bought it.

I didn't think I had to install it although i did have to put in my acccounts.

Yes it is Windows Live Mail (I am not particularly well dosposed towards it as I ha d been used to Outlook Express since Windows 95 and the change to Windows 7 forced Windows Live Mail onto me....
I can't see why Windows Live mail should go missing with a SR Iif it came with the (HP) machine but I did have a virus problem around the same time (my Norton 360 was knocked out for a few days) and I suppose that may have had something to do with it
