    backup IMAP Windows Live Mail

I would like to backup my Windows Live Mail.
    I am using IMAP.

Now, I do know the distinction between POP3 and IMAP.

However, I have something that bother me.
If I backup my windows live mail (all my gmail emails) and after that I will
erase all my emails in gmail.

What will happen after I restore my windows live mail?
all my emails and attachment will still exist?

Does my emails in IMAP protocol are located also on my desktop and not just on the
    server?

    Hello Hamilton,

These tutorials can show you how to export (backup) your email messages and email accounts in Windows Live Mail so that you can import (restore) them later if needed. Exporting them will not delete them.

If you right click on your email account name in the left pane of WLM and click on Properties, you can check the box below in the IMAP tab to have messages in those folders kept on the server as well as your desktop. The IMAP server and your desktop (WLM) will be synced, so if you delete a message from either location, it will be deleted from both locations.

    Hope this helps,
