    VSS event log errors

    Hi

A few months back I started to find that my backups using Mirror Folder were not working using the ntfs change journals. Don't know if this is related to problem this morning though.

I have just tried to back up some files/folders with another application, Macrium Reflect which is now throwing me an error about not being able to create a volume snapshot with error code 0x8004230f.

I have checked the event log and found errors with VSS going back to 02/11/2010. Mainly writer errors until this morning.

This morning I got a different error having reformatted the external drive I was backing up too last night. A catastrophic failure error. See attached vss.txt from windows event log.

I have run 'vssadmin list writers' from command prompt which shows no errors.

I have run chkdsk /f on the reformatted drive which shows ok.

Am continuing to investigate but can anyone give me any ideas as to what I should try first?

    Volume Shadow Copy & Truecrypt

    Is this the problem?

Note: For other types of volumes, the Volume Shadow Copy Service is not supported because the documentation for the necessary API is not available."

Looks like it's just not possible. Currently investigating how Mirror Folder handles external encrypted (non-system) drives with regard to VSS.
