    System restore

    Hi

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on Dell 1558. I would like to do system restore back to day-before-yesterday and when i click on "System restore" it says "no restore points have been created on your system". I am damn sure that there're many restore points (enough space also allocated on C drive) incl. those i created manually (safe side). Now it says no restore points found.

It's must for me to restore system to 2 days back - Please advise.

    TIA

Dont be sure that you have points. Sounds like you do not.
There are many reasons that you may not have any
    Virus
    Malfunction
    Not turned on
    etc.

    Thanks for the replies.

    1. I have System restore ON
    2. Automatic Updates on
    3. Windows defender UP and running with updates - scan periodically
    4. Have AV with updates and periodic scanning

Today morning There was a blue screen and memory dump. It rebooted and worked fine for 2-3 hours
Later It's directly switched OFF without anything done externally. Worked again for 3-4 hours
Later it hang once with some odd audio.

So i decided to do system restore to fix this problem. Now I see around 4GB more free space on my C: drive (Looks like all my restore points gone with previous crashes??).

Pls help me how i go ahead fixing this issue.

    TIA

Ill try to help. One step at a time
Download and make a full updated scan with malwarebytes, then report back.

    also follow these instructions

    Hi Richard,

I installed malwarebytes and updated it and did FULL scan. It found ~20 infected files and let it clear/delete them and rebooted laptop as per its recommendation.

Now Do you still want me to submit BSOD crash report on crash&debug forum?

Please advise me the next step.

    Thanks,

The cause may have been the malware. If the BSODs and SR problems continue then upload the report.

You're not alone. There's tons of people in this boat including me. I'm doing a system repair and hopefully that works because I tried everything. Good luck!

    System Restore question (hopefully simple)
