vssadmin list shadowstorage - error

Hi there

after reading comments elsewhere, I decided to try and reduce the memory reserved for restore points (currently 20 points listed).

I ran the above command at the command line, with admin privilages. The following was returned:

Error: The shadow copy provider had an unexpected error while trying to process
the specified command.

Can anybody advise? (NB i tried this on my vista machine and it worked fine).

Many thanks

Type in "Create a Restore point" in Start Search bar. It usually appears with just Create. Then click it.
Left window below opens. Click configure and right window opens.
Set size with slider and click Apply then OK.
That is it.

Hi Mike thanks for pointing that out. I read somewhere that the slider control has not been available since XP. I trimmed it down to 2% and that still left 8 restore points, using c. 5GB. However at least I now know there is a limit applied. thanks again
