    No boot and needs help!

Hey I need some help because my computer will not boot.
So I started with a program that was not capable with windows 7.
Discovered that there was a mode called xp mode or capibility mode. This mode allowed the program to run. Then after that, I downloaded another program (my computer was still in xp mode) and when this program ran, my computer shut off, and was unable to turn on again.
I've tried everything from letting it sit and try to fix the problem restoring yesterday's backup. I have an external drive plugged in and it has a backup of the computer. The restore I tried was the windows system restore. I have a backup on he drive that I want to restore, but I have no idea how to do so.
It includes all the files of the computer on the external.
    Thanks for the help!

See if you can boot into Safe Mode to System Restore to before the problem.

If not boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD to run Startup Repair repeatedly with reboots. System Repair Disc - Create

Next from the System Recovery Options try System Restore to before the problem. If this fails, from the options Command Line try SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot

If these fail to start Win7, boot the DVD/CD, copy out your files using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then choose Recover Using a System Image and browse to the stored backup image to reimage the HD: System Image Recovery

If reimaging fails, run full Factory Recovery or Recovery Disks, or order Recovery Disks if an OEM PC, or find a Win7 installer for your version to clean reinstall with Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7
