    Hard Disk Drive

    Hello good day to all,
I need your suggestions or guide how to copy image completely from my old HDD with Windows Vista Home Premium. I want to replace my existing HDD drive with another brand with bigger capacity and then I will upgrade it to Windows 7, my problem is how to copy the original HDD drive image into a new one. Please any help with clear steps to go through would be highly appreciated.

You could try the Microsoft backup tool, but it didn't seem to be the carbon copy I quite wanted. You could also try 'clonezilla', a free disc imaging tool.

there is a good tutorial from out member Kari here
Written for tranferring Win7, but should do what you want.
It may be better to just do a full clean install of Windows7, then transfer your data from the Vista hard drive.

You would be better off doing a data backup of your old drive then doing a clean install of Win 7 to your new drive, reinstalling your apps then restoring your data. It's more work but less trouble prone.
<Oops!> I see Britton30 beat me to this suggestion.
