Help restore to larger drive without format
Solved: Extended the 'C' partition into the 'unallocated' area so now have a full 1Tb OS drive.
Hi I need help as I can't find it in the Tutorials section.
Summary. I don't want Win 7 Restore to format the larger drive when restoring. I want to restore to a partition on a larger drive. Does Win 7 Restore allow me to do that?
What I have: OS was on a Samsung 300Gb drive. Backed up to a WD 1Tb drive. I want to restore to a Samsung 1Tb F3 drive into a 350Gb partition on this drive.
When I restored Win 7 wrote the Disc Image over the 1Tb drive and now it shows as a 300Gb drive. I can't use the rest of the drive. I partitioned the F3 into 350Gb and 650Gb using diskpart, but the only option on Restore was to reformat the drive.
Am I able to just Restore the files to a Partition and not use the Disc Image?
Do I have to use different software, remake my back up and then copy/mirror to the new partition?
I now have two perfect copies, one on a 300Gb drive and another on a 1Tb drive (restricted to 300Gb). I want my existing OS on the 1Tb as it is, and be able to use all of it.
