restoring system image to a new SSD

This is a follow-on from the previous question that you kindly helped me with...

    So far....

    1. I have a system image saved on a External USB HDD
    2. I am able to boot successly with the recovery disk I downloaded.
    3. Windows successfully finds the image I made
    4. When I try to restore the image onto new SSD I get the following errors

    Followed by...

Any Ideas how I can solve his issue. All i've done is slot the new SSD in the back and booted again with CD in, and Image ready on USB HDD...

    Thanks again..

Ahh, so I need to 'prep' the SSD before it can take the install..

External enclosure is the only way to do this right?

That's another £20-£30 for me then

Aren't there additional SATA ports on the motherboard you could connect both (SSD / HDD) at the same time, just be sure to power down the PC first?

There's no vibration with an SSD, if you have a second SATA cable and power connector leave the SSD 'outside' the lappy while you do the work, I've left HDDs lying on the floor outside my desktop case while I was doing something.

That's gotta be worth a shot, I'll get it opened up again and see. Thanks.

Hi guys. I've been following through the tutorial you sent me to and have another little problem...

I've used Partition Wizard to get my SSD to this config (on an old xp machine)
The ssd is the 'DISK 3'

Thinking everything was ok, I booted from backup disk and tried to restore from image.. Same problem as earlier

So, I ran command to have a look and this is what I get

Is the offset the problem? I noticed you stated it must be a multiple of 4?

    Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry, when I click to see the images you posted I get a warning from my A/V saying that site is unsafe, will you please re-post them using the method outlined in this tutorial at the link below.

How to Upload and Post a Screenshot and File in Seven Forums

From what I can see so far it looks like you created an Extended partition / Logical drive for Windows 7 using XP and that needs to be a Primary partition so the "System" boot files system volume can be created, an Extended/Logical can't independently host the Windows "System" boot files.

    Please re-post the snips.
