    NTI Backup Now 5

Looking at my Programs and Features, I found this NTI Backup Now 5.
I never intalled it. Computer was a Acer Aspire 7741. Bought on May 21st, this year.

Since I have the native backup application which I do monthly backup to my external drive, should I uninstall NTI ?
Does it have something that my built-in backup app does not ?

    Thank you.

As far as I can tell, NTI does it's job well but is similar to the default Windows backup tool. I myself regularly backup using the native app and like you, I use an external hard drive. In my opinion, the native backup tool suits me just fine and I've had no problems so far. So yes, if you no longer use NTI, you might as well install it.

Sure, if you want something fancy, go far a different program. But if you just want it simple and trustworthy, go for the native application. I mean, it backs up your hard drive perfectly to your external HDD and that's really all you want, isn't it? :)

I'd like to explore a little further before I decide what to do with it.
I'd also like to know how to open the NTI backup file, what program to open the files.

NTI Backup Now Standard - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Downloads
Well if you read the cnet reviews, they should help you a bit.

    NTI FAQs
I also found some FAQs on the BTI website. Give 'em a read. :)

    Backup procedures are simple.
My problem is I can't read the backup files.
Unlike the Win 7 native backup files which can be opened with a right click, there is no program to open the files.

Right. In that case, stick to the native backup. It seems to be easier to use than NTI.
