defrag before backing up recovery drive?
I am thinking to back up recovery drive prior to partition C drive.
Do I need to defrag everythings before backing up recovery drive?

Defrag recovery drive!? Leave that drive alone!
See, defrag helps speed up things on the drive that has the OS/programs/games installed. A recovery drive is just meant to recover your computer to factory state should something go wrong on the current windows install. Theres nothing you need to speed up there.
Create your recovery disk set before you do anything else.
Bill2 is correct You should not Defrag a Recovery Partition or Drive.
If it is a Drive or Partition that has Windows Backup then you should not Defrag that drive as it may cause corruption

By default Win7 Disk Defragmenter checks my Recovery Drive. AFAIK it has not done any defragging of it. But for others I bet it has. I have now unchecked it.
It serves no purpose to defragment your recovery partition. If it is written to you may have a problem.
The separate system reserved partition will often be shown as quite fragmented and I'd leave that alone. The OS does write to that partition (not you).
