Windows 7: Restore Error

Ok i have been using windows backup for months set to backup every week which it has been doing without problem.

I needed to do a fresh install of windows 7 so went ahead and used the restore disk for the os, windows 7 was up and running again so then i applied all the updates that were waiting. Windows was running fine.

The next step was to recover my data from the backups that had been made, documents, pictures and music. This went ahead and completed fine but when i look at the files they all have a lock symbol on the folder as well as the files.

They have been restored to the same place on the same machine with the same OS.
Can anyone tell me what has happend as i wont be able to rely on this solution in the future to make sure my data is backed up.

Tried that but no joy.

I should not have to mess about with things like that to get my data back, the backup solution should just work.
