    Windows 7 System Restore won't open

    I had a little incident with my SID while installing a new program. (I'm aware of how stupid a mistake this is...) and now I need to do a system restore to fix the problem. The thing is, every time I click on the system restore icon, the icon is highlighted as if there is a window opened in the background, but there isn't. Then after about 2 seconds, it disappears.

    tldr;
    I NEED system restore, but it won't open.

    EDIT:
    A little bit more information;
    The reason I need to do system restore is because my account was changed from administrator to a guest, now I can't view any of my files nor can I make a new account with administrator privileges.

    Hello MintBerryCrunch, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    You could do a system restore at boot instead using Option Two in the tutorial below.

    System Restore

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Unfortunately I don't have a Windows 7 disc so I believe that's not an option for me.

    You seem to be another victim of Windows imaging. What you can try is to attach the imaged VHD (if that works). Then you can image the VHD with e.g. Macrium and restore that image with the Macrium restore CD. That works, I have done that before. The key is to be able to attach the Windows image VHD (in Disk Management > Action tab).

    In the future, try not to use Windows imaging. It is defunct all the way. Use this: Imaging with free Macrium

    If you have not made your Startup Repair
    System Repair Disc - Create
    Do you have a mate with Windows 7 & CD/DVD RW Drive, how could burn one off.

    Thanks a lot. I'll try this out and share the results when I get the chance.
