restore windows 7 to new hd not working

Hi I am a newby here trying to restore my system but not doing something right. I have an acer aspire 5332 with windows 7 home premium on which came pre installed. The factory hard drive has pretty much failed but before it did I made 3 recovery dvd disks, an application driver disk. I have purchased a wd Scorpio blue 500gb internal hd and want to put the windows os on there.

I have formatted the wd new drive and created a system image on the drive using the whole disk space as 1 partition. I have then placed this into the computer and removed the old hard drive.
I have then installed recovery disk 1 and restarted hitting F10. This has booted into acer erecovery. I have clicked to do full system restore. I have then gone through all three disks. final message is restore complete restart computer to reboot. However on doing this it does not boot

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong

on restart it goes to acer first screen i leave it to hopefully bring the windows start screen but goes to black screen with following -
    intel undi, pxe-2.1 (build 082)
for atheros pcie ethernet controller v1.0.0.5(01/22/09)

    check cable connection
pxe-e63: error while initializing the NIC
    pxe-mof: exiting intel pxe rom
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

I have then restarted again and gone into F12. system to set to boot from HD first, disk second, ethernet 3rd.

I dont have a specific boot disk. I created recovery disks and application and driver disk, not sure which one should act as a boot disk?

Ok, I have put disk one back in and restarted, it boots back first to the starting windows screen then into the acer erecovery screen and gives me the 3 original options of full factory reset, reset saving my data and exit, however I have already done the full restore, I therefore cant get past restoring back into windows!!

done that with same result. Am I in effect wiping the HD and system image on it when I do the restore, or is it adding the files to the system image to allow windows to be reinstated?
