Adjust Disk Space slider not working

I am trying to alter the amount of disk space usage for restore points. The slider is set at 1%, it moves but I cannot apply the change and it reverts to 1%. This messge appears:

Could not apply the settings for the following reason: The file name directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect (0X8007007B)

I am having problems with the DVD disappearing so need to keep several restore points and they are disappearing because insufficient space is allocated. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you may have some corrupted system files, try a full scan to see what turns up.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I have just this minute solved the problem!

System Properties/System Protection showed

Local Disk(C) (system) On
Local Disk(C) (missing) On

I turned the "missing" disk protection off and was then able to increase the %. Hope this may be of help to others with the same problem.
