If I knew when I was going to make an error I'd be an oracle.

I still don't understand why it tells me I can create a restore point, when you say I can't.!!!

Anyway, I bit the bullet and spent considerable time shuffling around all my icons. Now they are back to where I want them.
We have communication problem, and I sense the resentment from your part.
I'll make my last effort to explain, and I'll get out of your hair.

The " safety valve " is a " plan B ".
If the changes you have made do not pan out, you can use the restore point to go back to where it was. I did not say you should know when you were going to make an error. In fact, that is precisely why a restore point is to be created first before making any changes, BECAUSE you couldn't have known if you would make an error. And, if you don't like the changes you had made, then you can use that " safety valve " to restore.

You can make all the restore points you want. .... the date you make those restore points is the date registered by the computer.

Good luck.

Maybe your problem would be easier to solve in the future if you got rid of all those icons on the desktop and put them into Toolbars instead. There they do not budge. For details see here: Toolbars - How to Use in Windows 7 and Vista

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7600

I create a system restore point each morning when i boot my pc.that way any problems that day and i dont have to go too far back with a restore, i am covered. consider using the tutorial i directed you to earlier and save your self grief in future, also you can have some reassurance that if you do have to restore you dont have several days or weeks of changes to make.
just to clarify, a restore point is a point in time that the system restore can go back to,
