system recovery?
So, I'm here because I'm hoping that somebody with more knowledge of technology than myself will be able to help me.
About 2 months ago I bought Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 to replace my last copy of it (the 3 computer version)
It went onto 2 laptops fine but wouldn't install onto my PC because of a disk read error - so, while I figured out what to do about that, I downloaded a K7 computing security 30 day free trial.
That ran out 3-4 weeks ago, so I deleted that and installed Microsoft's internet security - I can't remember the exact name of it, but it was a Microsoft product, so I figured it would be safe.
Towards the end of installing that it said I needed to restart the computer, which as far a I know is normal, but from the restart, I haven't been able to get my computer to start.
It comes up with the loading screen, with the options to go to boot menu and set-up at the bottom of the screen, but that's it. From there it goes onto a black screen that just says 'BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart' - this is just a vicious circle.
So, I bought a Windows 7 recovery disk 3 weeks ago and I've been through everything that I can go through - I read on a forum earlier that I could just skip the step that has the options;
'use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows.
Select an operating system to repair. If your operating system isn't listed, click Load drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks.' OR
'restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier'
-There aren't any operating systems listed and when I choose this option and click next there's startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic and command prompt- start up repair says that windows cannot repair the computer automatically, I can't do a system restore because a) it doesn't know which OS i'm using and b) I never got round to making a recovery point, which I'm now really regretting.
none of the other options work either, and then here's the other option, which is to load drivers. when I choose that option and click next I have to choose a file from sys32, and there are easily several thousand files in all the folders combined, and I have no idea what to do with any of these files and don't want to waste weeks going through all these files.
So, if anyone at all could help me fix this, I'd be so grateful.
Also, I'm sorry that this is such a long post, but I didn't know which parts of this were important and which were useless.
