system restore & undo restore freezing computer

    Hello,

I just did a system restore to fix some stupid software and after I did that, the computer hung up on the welcome screen. After several hard power off and restarts, I decided to do the undo system restore from Safe Mode as that is the only way I could access anything without the computer freezing up. I did that, and now the computer rebooted, but as soon as I clicked on something, it froze up again. It's been stuck for 11 minutes now. What to do???? This computer is less than two months old.

How exactly are you doing this System Restore? Via disc or though System Protection? Also, is your computer quite hot? There might be a chance that it is overheating.

After waiting it out, it went back to working again. I think it was just gathering its bearings, and I was impatient. I didn't expect to have to wait so long at the welcome screen, and I think I perturbed it. Not real happy with myself on that one. I'm doing a full system scan right now. It seems to be using more of the CPU for longer at startup, but that could be my imagination, not sure how to tell.

To answer your questions, no it was not running hot, and it was nearly silent. The hard disk would flash every once and a while, but certainly was not overactive. And, I ran the restore via the installed restore capabilities. It was not a total revert, just to a date about a week ago.

We'll see what happens, I guess. I appreciate your reply.

Hey, no problem. That's what we're here for. If it plays up again, let us know. I'll try and post back as soon as possible.
