Where can I save my hard drive backup?

Hey you guys I was trying to backup my entire hard drive using Paragon so that if I ever get a virus I can just restore the backup, but I don't have an external hard drive to save the backup to. I also can't save it as a partition on my computer's hard drive because I already 4 partitions on my hard drive and that's the most it can have. Paragon also offers the option to save it to a network drive but I have no idea what that is? All I have is a 8gb flash drive, but I don't think that's enough for a backup.. so any ideas where I can store this backup? Thanks.

A network drive is connected to a server on a corporate network so that's not a lot of good to you.

A full system backup is likely to take in excess of 60 GB so you really should invest in an external drive - either USB or eSata.

External drives are very reliable and reasonably cheap these days - I recently bought a 1 TB Hitachi external drive for £79 ($125).

Which gives you the most peace of mind? A small hole in your wallet or the thought your internal hard drive may fail and you haven't backed it up?

Yea that's what I wasthinking of doing but in the mean time I was hoping I could store it somewhere else. Thanks for the links, I still have my hp recovery partition I never removed it just in case I needed it, ill just by some cd's and make some recovery disks. The only bad thing about that is that I have to set everything back up which takes a while.

If i had money I would buy the hard drive trust me, I would be able to sleep much better at night but it's not up to me to buy it it's my parents, and they don't really like spending money they don't think we need. Ill try to explain it to them but they'll just think it's a waste of money or they'll tell me they don't have money to buy it. Soon yeah I was hoping for another option.

    Hi Max,

I'd go for the extra hard drive and really you'll be able to sleep better. Try to explain the scenario you had when you still did not know what to do and wanted to recover the default backup from your HP laptop(THIS HELP!Virus redirects to spam sites and other stuff ). Then tell them the importance of the files and setup you have and if it weren't for the recovery you would have to purchase a W7 CD or availed of the HP support and that also costs money.

Parents re always like that because they want to teach they kids the importance of value. Through proper explanation they will see that you "value" your laptop through a good backup strategy.

    Goodluck:)
