    Question about disk images

    Hey all,

I need a clear explanation of what a disk image is -

I want to backup EVERYTHING on my computer, like all my applications, files, background wallpaper, iTunes music, etc. because I am going to get a SSD and want the easiest transition possible.

    Any help would be great,
    Thanks,
    Brady

Images are usually done on a partition basis and include everything on the partition---Windows, the registry, installed applications, configuration settings, licensing information, as well as any personal files that may be on that partition.

If you have more than 1 partition, you can put multiple partitions in a single image, although I think most people probably would use 2 images in that situation.

You should probably back up your personal files on a file by file basis as well as through the image before you transition to the SSD.

    ignatzatsonic is correct of course.
But if you are a little uncertain and want to do the job quickly Acronis and Paragon have fairly low cost apps to do the transition to SSD to consider at least. Check out their websites.
