Win7 Restore "Cannot Restore"

Hi Guys
I'm running Windows 7 64bit (No SP1 yet - I can't install, that's another issue elsewhere!)

For some reason my system restore just won't restore. I set it to run back-up every week to a physically separate disk "G", which is used solely for back-up/ archiving (295gig free from 931gig). It normally completes back-up succesfully but whenever I decide to run a restore it goes through the process, reboots but always says "unable to perform restore" (whatever restore point I aim for). I've tried disabling our virus guard, Zone Alarms Internet Security, just in case but the result is always the same.

I have run disc checks and all seems good. Can anyone tell me why this could be or what steps I can follow to find the reason so I can try to get restore working?? (If you need more info to advise, let me know what and I'll provide it.)

Regards,
Graham
